Most children can start martial arts around age 4, when they have enough focus and coordination to follow short, structured drills. At Results Martial Arts in Las Vegas, our Tiny Tigers Taekwondo program is purpose-built for ages 4–6 with 30-minute classes designed around how young children actually learn. Once students turn 7, they move into Children Taekwondo (and can add Children Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), where classes run 45 minutes and add self-defense, sparring fundamentals, and leadership development. There is no athletic prerequisite — beginners are welcome and start with the basics.

Yes, martial arts is safe for children when it is taught by certified instructors in a controlled environment, which is exactly how every class runs at Results Martial Arts. Children train on padded floors and full BJJ mats, use age-appropriate gear, and learn techniques in a slow, progressive way before any contact drills. Our instructors are background-checked and trained to coach children specifically, not just adults. Most parents report fewer playground injuries after starting because their child has better balance, body awareness, and self-control.

Most new students at Results Martial Arts earn their first belt promotion within roughly 8–12 weeks of consistent training, depending on attendance and effort. Belts are not handed out — students test in front of Master McCoig and his coaches and demonstrate the techniques, forms, and life-skill habits required for each rank. Progressing to black belt typically takes several years and is intentionally designed to be a long-term journey that builds grit and follow-through. Children who attend 2–3 classes per week progress steadily and stay motivated.
